Robinhood Unveils Layer-2 Blockchain, Tokenized Stocks, and AI Trading Platform

Robinhood has announced a broad expansion of its digital asset business, combining blockchain infrastructure, tokenized securities, decentralized finance, and artificial intelligence into a single ecosystem.

Summary:

  • Robinhood has launched its own Layer-2 blockchain alongside tokenized stock trading

  • The company introduced DeFi lending services and AI-powered trading agents

  • The expansion supports Robinhood’s strategy to build a global blockchain-based financial ecosystem

At the center of the rollout is Robinhood Chain, a new Layer-2 network built on Arbitrum. Designed for tokenized real-world assets, the blockchain is backed by infrastructure partners including Uniswap, Chainlink, Alchemy, and BitGo.

The company also introduced tokenized stocks through Robinhood Wallet in more than 120 countries. Users can trade these assets around the clock and use them within decentralized finance applications, including lending markets and collateral-based strategies. Trading is supported through several decentralized exchanges, including Uniswap.

Robinhood is also entering decentralized lending with Robinhood Earn. The service allows eligible users to borrow the dollar-backed stablecoin USDG through infrastructure powered by Morpho. The company said the product includes insurance coverage against cyber incidents and smart contract risks.

Additional trading products are being rolled out across different markets. Selected users can access perpetual futures through the decentralized exchange Lighter, while European customers now have leveraged perpetual contracts tied not only to cryptocurrencies but also to commodities, exchange-traded funds, and foreign exchange markets.

Beyond new financial products, Robinhood is introducing AI-powered trading agents for U.S. crypto users. Through Trading MCP, customers can connect compatible AI models that analyze market data and execute strategies automatically within user-defined limits.

The launch comes as Robinhood continues expanding internationally. The company now serves nearly 28 million customers in 38 countries, recently entered Canada through its WonderFi acquisition, secured regulatory approval in Singapore, and says cryptocurrency services are also planned for the UK.

The latest announcements reflect Robinhood's ambition to merge traditional investing, decentralized finance, and AI-driven automation into a unified global trading platform.
